Summer Vaca…

How was your summer vacation? While those summer days may be fading into a distant memory, we thought we would share a couple of our favourites from what was a great summer in Southwestern Ontario.

Trip Tease – Blue Mosque – Istanbul, Turkey.

While it is most commonly referred to as the “Blue Mosque” its official name is the Sultan Ahmed Mosque and it was constructed from 1609 to 1616.

It is said the design of the mosque is the culmination of two centuries of both Ottoman mosque and Byzantine church development. It has one main dome, six minarets and eight other secondary domes. Inside the mosque is lined with more than 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles. The upper levels of the interior are dominated by blue paint and more than 200 stained glass windows.

We will be visiting this famous mosque on our Instanbul – Backpacking Photo Workshop.  The hostel we have selected to stay at for this trip is the Old City Hostel. http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g293974-d1582503-Reviews-Old_City_Hostel-Istanbul.html  that is within walking distance of the Blue Mosque.

We have secured the minimum number of bookings needed to run this trip, and we still have room available for others to join us.

This trip runs September 28 to October 4, 2013 and the cost including airfare, accommodation, admission fee’s and ground transportation is $2599.00 + HST.

Trip Tease Revealed – Gros Morne National Park.

We were finally able to stop grinning long enough to put some info together on this trip.  Gros Morne Adventures have created a customized trip for Wide Open Studios designed to provide us with some breath taking photo opportunities. 

Date: August 2013 (final dates being confirmed now)

Cost: $2999.00+HST, includes return airfare from Toronto Pearson, accommodation, all meals, ground and water transportation, airport transfers and dedicated guide for the week.

Trip Tease Revealed – Havana Cuba

 

 

 

 

 

Havana.  Just say the name and your mind fills with images of colonial buildings, classic cars from the 50s, cigars and of course rum. This city offers some spectacular photographic opportunities as well as a healthy does of culture.  We will be traveling to the warm climate just as ours in Canada starts to get a little chilly. Pack you camera gear and your swimsuit, the first and last night of our trip will be spent in beach resort town of Varadero, famous for its white sand beach. As with all of our tours, cost includes roundtrip airfare out of Toronto,(we can arrange transportation from another city if needed) accommodation, meals where indicated, two photography workshops as well as instruction each day when we are out shooting. 

When: October 19 – 25, 2013.                 Cost: $1599.00 + HST.

 

 

Gros Morne National Park

We are pretty excited at Wide Open Studios today, we just received the trip details to Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland.  If you have EVER wanted to explore, photograph and experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you are going to want to do it on this five day guided trip that has been created just for Wide Open Studios…we will have more details out on this trip, just as soon as we stop smiling!

Trip Tease Revealed – Budapest, Hungary

Another in our “Trip Tease Revealed” posts…this time we are talking about Bucharest Romania.  This trip is part of our 2013 Backpacking/Hostel group of trips.  

When: August 31 to September 6, 2013.  Cost: $2499.00+H.S.T. which includes airfare from Toronto, accommodation, meals where indicated and admissions to any sites we are photographing while there.

Trip Tease #8

This capital city is on our Backpacking/Hostel trips…this country has a number of iconic images from unique shoes, flowers, bicycles and one other object that would give it away…any quesses?

Answer to Trip Tease 7 – Ajay Kaul nailed it…Hero’s Square is located in Budapest and we will be leading one of our Backpacking/Hostel trip to this city in 2013. We can run these trips with as few as three people and will cap it off at 20 travellers.
