Hvar Island Waters, Croatia

Croatia has more than a thousand islands. All of them dotting the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea. Some of the islands are larger and inhabited, other are smaller and deserted. When snorkeling in these waters you can see very clearly under water! I watched a local 5 year old boy catch an octopus with his bare hands, only to bring it back to shore, rip out it’s heart and take it back to his home to contribute to his families dinner. Hvar Island is the  Dalmatian Island, located between  Korcula Island and the Island of Brac. It is well kown in Croatia for it’s pleasant, very specific climate with a lot of sunshine and very few rainy days.

St. Dunstan in the East, London, UK.

The church was originally built in about 1100. A new south aisle was added in 1391 and the church was repaired in 1631 at a cost of more than £2,400.

It was severely damaged in the Great Fire of London in 1666. Rather than being completely rebuilt, the damaged church was patched up between 1668 and 1671. A steeple was added in 1695-1701 to the designs of Sir Christopher Wren.

The church was severely damaged in the Blitz of 1941, during WW2. Wren’s tower and steeple survived the bombs intact. Of the rest of the church only the north and south walls remained. In the re-organisation of the Anglican Church in London following the War it was decided not to rebuild St Dunstan’s, and in 1967 the City of London decided to turn the ruins of the church into a public garden, which opened in 1971.

Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

Cesky Krumlov is a small city in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, best known for the fine architecture and art of the historic old town and Český Krumlov Castle. Old Český Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was given this status along with the historic Prague castle district. Český Krumlov is an important cultural center, hosting a number of festivals and other events each year. The best known is the Five-Petalled Rose Festival (the name is derived from the Rožmberk crest of a 5 petal red rose), which is celebrated on the weekend of summer solstice in June. The downtown area is recreated as a medieval town with craftsmen, artists, musicians, and local people dressed in costumes from the Middle Ages. Various activities such as jousting, fencing, historical dance performances, and folk theatre take place at the castle, local park, and the river bank, among other places. The festival is concluded by a fireworks show above the castle.

Borough Market, London, UK

Borough has long been synonymous with food markets and as far back as 1014, and probably much earlier, London Bridge attracted traders selling grain, fish, vegetables and livestock. In the 13th century traders were relocated to what is now Borough High Street and a market has existed there ever since.

In 1755, the market was closed by Parliament, but a group of Southwark residents raised £6,000 to buy a patch of land known locally as The Triangle, once the churchyard of St Margaret’s, and reopened the market. The Triangle, where you’ll find Northfield Farm and Furness Fish and Game, is still at the heart of the market today
